Installing Google Analytics (GA4) onto your website and reading its reports means you are learning about your web traffic, which is key. How many site visitors came from socials, email newsletters, etc? Of those, how many came from a specific post on FB, or a particular article link in your newsletter?
Employing what are called UTM tracking codes (aka parameters) massively improves the quality of the information you garner from GA4, by differentiating between various posts and/or paid advertising campaigns within one of your marketing channels.
For example, if you simply point to a webpage from different posts and paid adverts on socials, than GA4 cannot tell from which exact post or advert the traffic has come. With UTM parameters, however, you can tell from which exact source the traffic has come and make informed decisions on changes and improvements.
